from € 500 (88%)

All, I will be running the half marathon at the CPC The Hague again on 10 March and with your help hope to raise some money for OI, also known as Brittle Bones. This is one of those diseases that you hope to never come across, but unfortunately around 1,000 people in The Netherlands and 500,000 worldwide have it. The funds raised will be used for research and to improve the life of patients. Below some further information on OI.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a rare, genetic disease affecting the bone and connective tissue in the body. It is characterized by very fragile bones from birth. The cause of OI is a mutation in the genetic information, which is responsible for the production of collagen, which makes normal bones both solid and flexible. As a result, people with this disease often break their bones. In many cases first fractures happen during birth of even before. During a lifetime, dozens of fractions occur, sometimes more than 200! Children are most fragile and sometimes will end up in a cast every 2 months or so.

You can create your own personalized poster to draw attention to this fundraising page. After printing the poster you can hang it in a shop, a café window or a community bulletin board. Ask your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to help and also put up a poster in their home, school or work place. Most people are willing to help but be sure to ask permission first.
